I have a ‘22 model from new, the s22 tyre lasted 4000 miles.  Now on Road 6 and so far 8k with good tread. Member of rider club and we go “spritely” to say. Would use again when needed

Interesting. MY22 S1000R came with Battlax S22s (OE). Just under 6k miles in all weathers and the front is badly unevenly worn, with the worn side just above legal minimum. Rear has loads of tread but starting to square off.
Fitted Michelin RP5s on my R1250RS and it made a massive difference to handling (much faster turn in) and was super confidence inspiring in the wet and in winter. Lasted longer and didn't wear a unevenly as the OE Metzlers.
Was considering RP5/RP6 on the S1000R, so would be interested in your experiences with them.

I don't run the s22 anymore as my mates and I were lucky to get 4000klm out of them not the 4000miles you blocks are getting we have all turned over to Avons and get regular 8000klm they cost us less and hang on just as good even on track days
