HID Install question
on: July 21, 2021, 12:49:55 AM
Hi fellow S1000R owners,

I am currently trying to install my HID bulbs and wanted to ask if I need to install the error code/anti flicker box with the ballast? What  size of drill bit will I for the dust cover? Any advise will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

When I installed HID on my R, they just went in as is(but bear in mind there are huge quality differences between various HID brands). If memory serves me correctly, the hole in the cover(low beam side only) was 25mm.

Thanks for the reply. I managed to put the high beam and so far no error msg occurred after installing the ballast and the code cancelling module. Hopefully I did it right :) I will continue working on the low beam tomorrow as the pilot bulb w5w was a pain to remove. I have to the get the hole saw for my drill so I can drill the hole on the cover.

My trick for getting the w5w bulb out was to stick a finger through the hole for the main bulb and push the pilot bulb back through the housing.  I was nervous that I'd press too hard on the bulb and break it but it came out OK.

Thanks for the tips. I managed to get it out with a test of patience. Lol

Next time I'll try your method but hopefully my LED bulbs would last long so I don't have to go through with that process again.

Regards

Ron
